VICTORIAN DINING CHAIRS, Set of 6 — Apple-Back Walnut with Stripped Velvet Upholstery
An assembled set of six dining chairs in the refined Victorian tradition. Each frame showcases the hallmark sculptural details of mid-19th century European craftsmanship: the signature apple-shaped back splat with sinuous scrolled center rail, gently curved arms terminating in carved scrollwork, and cabriole front legs with scroll feet. Solid walnut throughout—hand-carved joinery visible in the construction.
The original upholstery is in gold stripped velvet with nailhead trim, a choice that honors the period while bringing contemporary richness to the palette.
Condition: Four chairs in very good condition—frames solid and stable, all joinery tight. Two chairs exhibit loose joinery at the back splat connections; the frames flex slightly under seated weight. Both are structurally sound and repairable with standard restoration joinery work (re-gluing and reinforcement). No splitting or major wood damage visible.

Styling & Use
A refined dining suite suited to formal or eclectic interiors. The carved detailing works equally well in period rooms or contemporary spaces valuing authentic Victorian craftsmanship. The velvet upholstery—slightly saturated in tone—reads as deliberately curated rather than reproduction. Ideal for collectors and designers seeking a complete set with honest provenance and use.
Roman Estates sources authentic 18th–20th century Italian and European antiques directly from private Roman estates and historic dealers. Each piece is individually selected for quality, provenance, and design merit.
A note on antiques: Antiques aren't new — that's the whole point. Every scratch, patina mark and sign of age is a badge of honour, not a defect. Detail photos are unfiltered and show the piece exactly as it is. We're happy to provide additional photos or videos upon request. All sales are final, so take a good look, ask us anything, and buy what you love.
