Provenance & Context
This tong exemplifies late 19th-century Italian silverware craftsmanship, with rococo-revival ornamental details reflecting the period's aesthetic preferences for elaborate, nature-inspired scrollwork. Such serving tongs were essential to formal dining, used for plating and serving food at table.
Styling & Use
Use for serving food at formal or casual table settings. Display on open shelving or in a serving caddy as a decorative accent. Pairs beautifully with period silverware and vintage table settings.
A refined accent for collectors of vintage silver, formal tableware, and 19th-century European serving pieces.
Roman Estates sources authentic 18th–20th century Italian and European antiques directly from private Roman estates and historic dealers. Each piece is individually selected for quality, provenance, and design merit.
A note on antiques: Antiques aren't new — that's the whole point. Every scratch, patina mark and sign of age is a badge of honour, not a defect. Detail photos are unfiltered and show the piece exactly as it is. We're happy to provide additional photos or videos upon request. All sales are final, so take a good look, ask us anything, and buy what you love.
